Oh the Woes of Bronchitis

posted in Personal |

Yes, once again I’m down with Bronchitis. This is starting to really get old, you know. I woke up on Friday with a ‘cold’, and spent much of the weekend drinking NyQuil and sleeping. I mistakenly thought I was doing better. On Tuesday night, my chest started burning and hurting all through the lower left side (lung), and around to the back… on up to the top area of my lung. The burn was constant, but not horrible. I figured I’d wait it out, and call my doctor on Wed. morning.

Within just a few hours, the pain was unbearable. I was sitting here attempting to work. Instead, I kept crying and staring blankly at the screen. Every so often, the burning would intensify for a few seconds, and I would feel this really sharp “squeeze”. It was horrid. After much prodding by my awesome friend Ryan (and my boss Chris!), I took myself off to the Emergency Room. By the time I got registered and into a bed, I was having some trouble breathing.

Long story short, they did find a small spot of pneumonia on the left lung, down low. I’m full of Bronchitis though. I received a loverly shot of Antibiotics to jump-start me, and a shot of steroids. They also gave me a breathing treatment. I was sent home with meds: antibitioc, steroids and cough syrup with Codeine in it. Hoo-boy. That stuff makes me loopy, and knocks me out. I only take it when I know I can sleep… which I did for much of the day and evening on Wed. I got up in the middle of the night, did some work, and tried to go back to sleep around 4:30am. I couldn’t fall asleep, so I came down here to write a few more things for work, and decided to blog a bit before heading back to my bed.

So if you don’t see me online as much for a couple of days, now you know why.

I also hope you feel better soon – bronchitis is NOT fun, and the last time I had it, it took me three weeks to get rid of it :( Take It easy ;)
