I have been building online communities since 1999. Connecting people is my greatest passion. We have all seen the way one person can make a difference in the world. A group of people united by a common goal or dream can literally CHANGE the world. I am a Mom and Nanna first and foremost… a content producer and social media junkie second. Music fuels my soul and creativity feeds my determination.

Community Management

The first thing you need to know is that creating a community is NOT about connecting people to you – it’s about connecting them to each other and giving them the tools to change the world. I began working in this capacity online twelve years ago – long before the term “Community Manager” was coined. I’ve successfully managed everything from large forums to live chat rooms to Ning websites to communities found solely within blogs and social streams. This is where my greatest passion and strength lies.

Social Media Coordinator

I fully admit to being addicted to all things social. Whether your company (or you!) is new to SM or you need to kickstart your interactions, I can help. From managing the streams for you to teaching you the best ways to drive conversation, I will be happy to help you find your way through the social maze.

Blogging

Blogging is an integral part of your online presence. This is the easiest way to tell people what you’re up to, give them information they may need and generally make sure they are included in everything you’re trying to build and do. I’ve been writing for others for about six years now, and there’s nothing I don’t like to discuss! I love to research and even crunch numbers in order to pull together a post which will benefit you and your community.

Conference Organization

I spent four years helping to organize the Gnomedex conference. I managed everything from working with the venue and sponsors to helping our speakers prepare the perfect presentation. Prior to this, I helped organize several large state-wide conferences during my time in Phi Theta Kappa from 2000 – 2003.

Speaking Engagements

Speaking in public is another hidden talent and passion of mine. I began by speaking to college students across Indiana back in 2003 during my time as Phi Theta Kappa Regional President for our great state. I’ve spoken on college campuses, in high schools and at small conventions and meetups, discussing everything from community building to succeeding despite challenges you may face in life. Consulting

If you or your company is new to the social world we live in, it can seem quite daunting. The fact of the matter is that you absolutely have to have an online presence these days in order to thrive and continue to grow. You need to be where your clients and customers are. Let’s face it: they are visiting Facebook, Twitter and Google+ several times throughout the day. I am no web designer and know very little about coding beyond basic HTML. I can, however, show you the ways you need to connect to your audience and help you learn to effectively communicate with them.
